We’ve been working with vacation rental owner, Nancy McAleer, to produce a short Anna Maria Island insider travel guide designed to inspire you. Nancy focuses on the family side of an Anna Maria island vacation. If you’re planning a vacation as a couple, then you should tap the vault of insider knowledge that is Marie-Louise Dahlgren, our “Anna Maria Island For Couples” insider!
Anna Maria Island, Florida is conveniently located about an hour from Tampa, and about two hours from Orlando, making it an easy journey. But, to be honest, I’d travel many more hours if 82F degree weather, white sand, and clear waters were waiting for me!
But listen, it’s not just beautiful weather and stunning beaches. Nancy shows us an island that offers families so much more than that. How about taking your kids to the Eternal Summer Surf Camp so they can finally learn how to ride waves like the pros. You can pre-register online or just show up a tad early. The best part? It’s free!
You can then check out the stunning local island wildlife up close and personal. Book through Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring group from April through October. Book a tour to see Loggerhead turtle nests or be adventurous and book an excavating tour!
Beautiful weather, white sand, entertainment for the whole family, what else could you need? Oh right, food! The food on the island is delicious as well, particularly the fresh seafood. Try Nancy’s hidden gem: A treasure called The Starfish Company located on 12306 46th Avenue W. You can reach it by car or boat, and it’s right on the dock with a stunning view of the water. Order grouper, oysters, or sea scallops (just to name a few) with french fries and hush puppies. You won’t leave hungry!
If you’re looking for a family vacation rental then Nancy’s Sirenia Beach House is large enough for the whole family to have the experience of a lifetime (couples read below!). Enjoy the heated salt water pools, tiki huts, and outside furnishing. The deep water canal is also at your fingertips, which you can use as you please. Go fishing from this house or simply watch the wildlife. You can’t go wrong.
And remember, if your Anna Maria Island vacation is for a smaller group, perhaps a couple, or a couple with a baby, then Marie-Louise has two 2-bedroom condos, equally beautiful but for smaller groups.
We hope you’ve found some inspiration here, and some options for places to stay, and that you have a wonderful Anna Maria Island vacation that you’ll remember forever!
